Round 3 of the Youth Climbing Series 2023 regional qualifiers for London and the South East was held at Boulder Shack in Southampton on the 21st of October 2023
We had a massive 26 squad members competing in this round. 11 of our best and strongest from Reading and 15 from Southampton.
The boulders that were set for this round were very modern comp-style, with a wide variety of holds and moves, all set with one thing in mind – how can we spit the most competitors off?!
The boulders ranged from massive double dynos to delicate no hand slab movements. Our squad were in their element!
In Category A Girls, it was a huge Parthian-only podium with Kathrine coming first, Amelie coming second and Amrita coming third!

Dan absolutely crushed in Boys Category B coming second, solidifying his place in the finals with enough points to take him through. Another strong showing was Shin in Boys Category E with another second!
All in all, Round 3 was a huge success for the Parthian Squad. Everyone had a great time, met loads of new people, and tried their hand at some of the hardest boulders in the country.
Huge thanks to the youth coordinators Tanya, Shredie and the BMC for running such a great event, and to Boldershack for hosting. We’re looking forward to Round 4 at Calshot, before Parthian Climbing Southampton host the finals on the 25th and 26th November.
